Job summary

MasTec Renewables seeks an experienced Safety Manager to lead safety programs on complex renewable construction projects across the US. This traveling role involves up to 100% travel, 8–12 months per project, per diem, and a company vehicle, with routine home rotation from sites.

Responsibilities include overseeing safety plans, conducting inspections, leading safety meetings, incident review, and training.

Qualifications

• Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company’s Zero Injury principles
• Functional computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Type and write reports with accuracy and appropriate grammar
• Communication and report writing
• Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management
• CPR/First Aid Instructor certification and training experience
• Work towards Professional certification (CHST, CMSP, etc.) within 6 months starting position

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of the safety program on complex construction projects
• Conduct workplace safety checks to identify safety infractions and initiate Stop Work Authority when necessary
• Guide onsite staff on corrective action to eliminate hazards and mitigate risk
• Provide Safety Leadership creating enthusiasm and participation among management and craft workers
• Participate in the jobsite R4 Safety Committee and report results to site management
• Lead site safety committee meetings and review R4 documents
• Attend weekly safety meetings and communicate safety matters between company and client
• Input and review incident reports
• Monitor site safety reports and maintain bulletin boards
• Track leading indicator statistics for project leadership
• Maintain first aid and emergency response supplies
• Administer drug and alcohol testing on site and spend 60% time in the field
• Identify hazards and consult on corrective actions with site management
• Implement the Zero Injury System on projects
• Understand and implement safety policies and environmental regulations
• Lead environmental inspections and documentation
• Coordinate and present safety training per requirements
• Support apprentices’ skill development and mentoring
• Other duties as assigned
