Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. seeks a Traveling Heavy Civil Project Manager to oversee project scope, budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and contracts across multiple sites. The role emphasizes professional owner interaction and reporting to the Senior Project Manager.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in large commercial construction, strong organizational skills, and the ability to travel up to 100%. This is a dynamic, field-oriented leadership role with a clear path to career advancement

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; associates or bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing large commercial construction projects.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to develop positive working relationships with owners and project engineers.
• Proven experience managing people, budgets, schedules, and quality across sites.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and return submittals for items to be manufactured or provided.
• Coordinate with Superintendent/Operations Manager on equipment and crew needs.
• Assemble job cost codes and regularly update costs.
• Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries on major items.
• Review and approve subcontractor and supplier estimates and invoices.
• Negotiate and coordinate changes in project scope and CORs.
• Monitor production and costs to maintain project profitability.
• Prepare monthly job cost and profit projections.
