Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Traveling Heavy Civil Project Manager to oversee large commercial construction projects across multiple sites. You will manage budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, contracts, and purchase orders while maintaining professional owner interaction.

This position reports to the Senior Project Manager and requires travel up to 100%. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, and a track record of

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing large commercial construction projects.
• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks across sites.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with owners, project engineers, and local government offices.
• Willing and able to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and return submittals for items to be manufactured or provided.
• Determine equipment and crew needs with Superintendent/Operations Manager.
• Assemble job cost codes and regularly update.
• Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries on major items.
• Review and approve subcontractor/supplier estimates and invoices.
• Negotiate, close, and coordinate all extra work orders and changes in project scope.
• Monitor production, resource utilization and overall job cost versus estimated cost to maintain profit margin.
• Prepare monthly job cost/profit projections.
