Job summary

Independence Excavating is seeking a Traveling Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead large commercial construction projects, manage budgets and schedules, and coordinate submittals, RFIs, contracts, and purchase orders. The role reports to the Senior Project Manager and requires frequent interaction with owners and project teams on-site.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of heavy civil project management experience, strong organizational skills, and willingness to travel up to 100%.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing large commercial construction projects.
• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to travel up to 100% to support projects.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with owners, project engineers, and local agencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and return submittals for items to be manufactured or provided.
• Coordinate equipment and crew needs with Superintendent/Operations Manager.
• Assemble job cost codes and regularly update.
• Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries on major items.
• Review and approve subcontractor/supplier estimates and invoices.
• Negotiate, close, and coordinate all Extra Work Orders and CORs for changes in project scope.
• Monitor production, resource utilization and overall job cost versus estimated cost to maintain profit margin.
• Prepare monthly job cost/profit projections.
