Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a Superintendent to lead daily job-site operations, coordinating scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment on multiple projects. This role requires full-time travel on-site to project locations nationwide; the posted location in Houston is the home base, not the project site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, light industrial and/or cold storage.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to/from project site.
• Reads blueprints and understands building codes and design requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; Spanish preferred.
• Experience with subcontractor scopes and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications to plan procedures, staffing, and material needs for each construction phase.
• Coordinate project schedule with Project Manager using look-ahead planning.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Inform and align teams, craft personnel, subs, and clients on progress and issues.
• Resolve workforce issues, manage safety and quality standards, and maintain budgets.
• Prepare and contribute to the Project Management Plan with the PM.
