Job summary

Layton Construction Company seeks a seasoned Superintendent to oversee daily on-site operations across multiple project locations. You will supervise direct labor, coordinate with the Project Manager, and ensure procurement aligns with schedules while ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role requires full-time travel to project sites, with responsibilities including staffing, subcontractor coordination, and communication with clients to report progress and resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, particularly in light industrial/cold storage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to/from project site.
• Reads blueprints accurately and understands design requirements.
• Experience with subcontractors’ scopes of work and tolerances.
• Basic Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications to plan procedures and staffing for each construction phase.
• Coordinate schedule with Project Manager and develop look-ahead schedules.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to conform to work schedules.
• Lead meetings with supervisory personnel, craft workers, subs, and clients to review progress and issues.
• Resolve issues with engineers, inspectors, and suppliers to improve methods.
• Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications and schedules.
• Move personnel between projects and manage labor costs while minimizing layoffs.
