Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. You will supervise direct labor and manage contracted work to ensure timely project completion.

The role requires full-time travel to project locations nationwide and on-site work. Strong leadership, communication, and construction knowledge are essential for coordinating crews, subcontractors, and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of experience on ground-up commercial projects, especially light industrial or cold storage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Reads blueprints accurately and understands codes and design requirements.
• Good written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction, staffing, and schedules.
• Interacts with the Project Manager to determine project schedule and use look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinates pre-construction meeting with Project Manager prior to mobilization.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Keeps all parties informed of construction issues and progress; meets with crew, subs, and clients regularly.
• Resolves problems with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors to improve methods.
