Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, coordinating scheduling, procurement, and manpower for ground-up commercial projects. The role involves close collaboration with the Project Manager to ensure milestones are met and resources are allocated efficiently.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to travel to multiple project locations and maintain high safety and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, particularly light industrial or cold storage.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Understands building codes and can read blueprints accurately.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures for construction based on specs, times, and staffing requirements.
• Coordinate project schedule and develop look-ahead schedules to foresee issues.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to align with work schedules.
• Keep all parties informed with regular progress updates and meetings with subs, clients, and craft personnel.
• Resolve issues with supervisors, labor representatives, and subcontractors to avoid delays.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping.
• Assist in preparing the Project Management Plan and move personnel between projects as needed.
