Job summary

Layton Construction Company seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead daily on-site operations, coordinating scheduling, production, and procurement for ground‑up commercial projects. This role involves travel to project locations nationwide and supervising labor, subcontractors, and equipment to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in construction management.
• 5+ years of experience in ground‑up commercial projects, especially light industrial or cold storage.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Ability to read codes and blueprints accurately.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications to plan procedures for construction based on start/completion times and staffing needs.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager to determine the project schedule and use look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager before mobilization.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Keep all parties informed of issues and progress with regular meetings with craft personnel, subs, clients, and management.
• Resolve complaints and coordinate with supervisors and labor to address issues.
• Inspect work to ensure conformity to specifications and schedules.
• Manage the project by tracking progress, materials, and costs and adjust schedules as needed.
• Assist in moving personnel between projects and managing crew mixes to control labor costs.
• Prepare the Project Management Plan with the Project Manager.
• Enforce company policies including safety and quality standards.
