Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations across nationwide projects. You will coordinate scheduling, production, and procurement of materials to ensure timely completion.

The role requires 5+ years in large-scale commercial construction, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to travel to project sites. You will work with Project Managers, subs, and clients to maintain project progress and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience with large-scale, ground-up commercial construction projects; light industrial experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Reads blueprints and applies building codes and design requirements correctly.
• Knowledge of subcontractors' scopes and tolerances; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of a job site, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment.
• Supervise all direct labor positions and manage contracted work to ensure project completion.
• Develop and utilize look-ahead schedules to assess progress and anticipate issues.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Coordinate pre-construction with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
• Ensure safety policies and company standards are implemented consistently.
• Move personnel between projects to optimize labor costs and maintain staffing.
