Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec Leo and capture data for a variety of on-site projects, from rebar mats to corroded piping. You will process data on-site, deliver meshes and CAD-ready files, and support forensic-quality reporting with chain-of-custody documentation.

You will also verify coverage, manage drift, and travel to regional hubs as needed, with a focus on safety and accuracy in active construction environments.

Qualifications

• Experience operating handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, Space Spider; others accepted) on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio for mesh cleanup, registration, and export.
• Familiar with CAD drawings and reading structural/fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld scans of rebar, embeds, pipes, and structures on-site.
• Control drift and verify capture completeness before leaving sites.
• Process scans in Artec Studio and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) and hand-clean meshes for modeling teams.
• Document procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody for forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents; travel to regional hubs as assigned.
