Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a community hospital OR assignment in California. Requires at least 1 year of experience in ortho, neuro, and vascular cases, with BLS certification and Epic charting experience.

Travelers may float between sister facilities and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility. Schedule includes 3x12-hour day shifts (11:00–23:00) and on-call coverage; frequent holidays may be required. Free parking provided and scrubs supplied.

Qualifications

• Active CST certification is required or preferred.
• BLS certification is required.
• NBSTSA certification preferred.
• Compact state license must be in hand at time of consideration.
• Epic charting system experience required.
• License required if applicable.
• Experience with vascular, orthopedic, general surgery, and endoscopic procedures.
• Skills in aseptic technique and various surgical specialties including GYN, plastics, podiatry, urology, ENT, and bariatrics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in a short-term acute care community hospital OR with 80 staffed beds.
• Perform cases in ortho, neuro, and vascular surgeries.
• Inpatient, trauma and occasional night shifts as scheduled.
• 3x12 hour day shifts from 11:00 to 23:00; 20-minute on-call response.
• Occasional weekend coverage; travel between sister facilities may be required.
• Epic EMR used for charting; travelers may float between facilities.

Responsibilities

• Short term acute care community hospital setting with 80 staffed beds
• Outpatient and community hospital case types with required experience in orthopedic, neuro, and vascular surgeries
• Inpatient and trauma case experience preferred
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 11:00-23:00
• May occasionally need to cover one night shift during the contract
• Weekend requirement of 3 shifts per schedule
• On-call requirement of one weeknight per week and every 2nd or 3rd Saturday or Sunday from 0700-0700 with a 20-minute response time
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• All RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration; approval based on facility needs
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• Free parking provided
• Scrub colors are facility-provided for OR staff
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
