Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for a hospital float pool operating across two CA campuses. The role requires 2-3 years of telemetry experience and a CA RN license, with float responsibilities spanning both campuses in a fast-paced environment.

You will float between locations, read telemetry strips, and manage non-titrating drips. Travel experience is a plus; night shifts are included on a 12-hour schedule, with required holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• CA RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2-3 years telemetry nursing experience required
• Experience managing drips required
• Chest tube experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Must be able to read telemetry strips independently
• Comfortable working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with limited support staff

Responsibilities

• Float pool position based at a hospital, floating to a second facility 9 miles away
• Telemetry unit with 31 beds and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Charge nurse and resource RN on every shift; charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
• Nurse aides typically available, though staffing may vary by census
• Cares for high-acuity patients including pneumonia, ESRD, post cath lab, respiratory distress, CHF, COPD
• Manages non-titrating drips including amiodarone, cardizem, and heparin
• No ventilator management, though patients may require BiPAP or CPAP
• Reads telemetry strips and signs off on strips
• In-house hospitalist coverage with on-call after hours
• 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support
• No IV team support
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7p-7:30a)
• Weekend: 4 shifts in 4 weeks (Fri-Sun nights)
• Holiday coverage for one major and one minor holiday
• Floats to 2 South, 3 North, second facility (tele or medsurg), and ER for MS/tele holds
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Navy scrub color
• Provide primary telemetry nursing care with limited dedicated tech support
• Orientation includes shifts on home unit and each floating unit, plus orientation at second facility
• Strong candidates with positive attitude and compassionate care
• First-time travelers may be considered with telemetry experience
