Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a MedSurg/Telemetry travel assignment in California. Requires 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry experience and active CA RN license. EpIC EMR experience and travel nursing background are required.

LTAC experience preferred and certifications must be current. Locality within 50 miles enhances eligibility for local rate. Clinical duties include cardiac monitoring, patient education, and coordination of care within a 1:5 MedSurg to 1:4 Telemetry ratio, day shift

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (PALS preferred)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in MedSurg/Telemetry required
• Previous Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• LTAC experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, line management, blood product administration, and respiratory care
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and dysrhythmia management
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Responsibilities

• Work in the MedSurg/Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:5 for MedSurg and 1:4 for Telemetry
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry patient population including CVA and post-surgical cases
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide holistic, individualized nursing care including assessment and transitions of care
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team to coordinate care plans
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to staff
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient confidentiality
• Local candidate rate requires living within 50 miles
• Returning employees require 1-year separation before traveler status
• Maximum RTO 7 days; limited holiday requests per contract
• Holiday coverage includes major US holidays
• Must be available for lab work within 3–5 days of contract signing

• Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and chest tube management
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and management of dysrhythmias
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration

• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to newly hired staff as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record and uphold patient confidentiality
• Must live within a 50-mile radius to qualify for local candidate rate
• Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before being eligible to return as a traveler
• Maximum RTO is 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
