Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Telemetry RN for a nights position in a busy acute care hospital in California. An active CA RN license, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, and rhythm interpretation skills are required, with 2+ years of RN experience.

You will work on a 31-bed Telemetry unit (1:4) using Cerner EMR and Philips monitoring, with 12-hour night shifts and weekend rotations. Travel-friendly, with housing and benefits highlighted in the listing.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand, no pending licenses accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
• Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation
• Must pass sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientation
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care Telemetry unit (4W) with 31 beds (11 private & 10 semi-private)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Common diagnoses include post pacer, hemodialysis, new onset afib/RVR, stepdown from ICU, surgical, urology, stroke, TBI, sepsis, and high-acuity patients
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Philips telemetry monitoring equipment
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7pm-7:30am)
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week schedule (Fri/Sat nights)
• Travelers are first to float, potentially to 2W MedSurg remote tele, MedSurg SW, ICU for tele MS hold, or ER holds
• On-call/standby requires reporting within 30 minutes
• Hospitalist/Intensivist available on call after hours
• RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit
• Provide bedside nursing care to a diverse telemetry patient population including cardiac, post-surgical, oncology, and skilled nursing transfer patients
• Unit supported by a Shift Manager, Resource Nurse, and Nurse Aides (2 on days, 1 on nights)
• 1-2 shifts of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Expected to work into the permanent staff holiday rotation
• Navy blue scrubs required; scrub jackets must be navy, and any undershirt must be navy, white, or black
• Block scheduling may be available if unit needs are met
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with this health system within the past year
