Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for a night shift assignment in Maryland. Candidates must hold an active MD or Compact RN license, with 2+ years of telemetry experience and current BLS/ACLS/NIHSS/CPI certifications. Prior travel nursing and epic charting experience are preferred.

Responsibilities include 3x12 shifts 19:00-07:30, patient ratios 1:5 (1:6 with lower acuity), and regional travel with housing and licensure support. First-time travelers welcome.

Qualifications

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI (AHA certifications only for BLS/ACLS)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration

Responsibilities

• Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5, up to 1:6 with lower acuity patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
• 36 or 48 hour options accepted
• Every other weekend required, totaling 4 weekends in a 4-week schedule cycle
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled, with one major holiday request allowed
• Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Care for cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and neurological patient populations
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips, with titration skills preferred
• Provide care for pre/post neurosurgery, CVA, and cardiac catheterization patients
• Support renal and dialysis patients, including pre/post hemodialysis management
• Perform wound care and manage isolation precautions/PPE
• Travelers must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not considered local hires under facility policy
• Returning travelers must have a 6-month break from the health system before reassignment
• Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Maximum RTO request of 7 days; requests exceeding 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
