Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry RN for a 26-bed Level 2 trauma stepdown unit in Illinois. Active IL RN license required; 12-hour night shifts 7pm–7:30am with every other weekend and holiday coverage.

The RN will work with central telemetry, manage common drips, and use EPIC EMR. Travel-friendly benefits include housing allowance, licensure reimbursement, and free online CEUs.

Responsibilities

Acute care telemetry stepdown unit with 26 beds
Nurse-patient ratios 1:4 or 1:5 with tech support 1:9
Uses central tele monitoring and common drips (Cardizem, Lasix, dopamine, nitro)
12-hour night shifts 7pm–7:30am
Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage
No on-call requirements
Floating with same 1:5 ratio
EPIC EMR used

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry RN for a stepdown unit position requiring an active IL RN license and prior telemetry experience.

Requirements

Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
BSN not required
EPIC EMR experience preferred
Negative drug screen required for all panels

Responsibilities

Acute care setting in a Level 2 trauma stepdown Tele Intermediate unit with 26 beds
Patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5 with tech support at 1:9
Common diagnoses include CHF, COVID pneumonia, Afib with RVR, tachy/brady syndrome, and syncope
Uses central tele monitoring with common drips such as Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, and nitro
No vents on unit; supports Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow/Vapotherm
12-hour night shifts from 7pm-7:30am
Every other weekend requirement (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Every other holiday coverage required
No on-call requirements
Floating required with same 1:5 ratio maintained on assigned unit
24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available
EPIC EMR used
Charge nurse takes a patient assignment
Hospitalist coverage 7am-5pm with APN and e-hospitalist in-house overnight
No IV team on unit; nursing does not mix medications
Floor orientation includes one hospital orientation shift plus two unit orientation shifts (one day, one night)
No specific scrub color required; clinicians may wear their own scrubs
No radius rule for eligibility; local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
COVID vaccination not required
