Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry unit in Virginia. Active VA or Compact RN license and EPIC experience are required, with BLS/ACLS certifications and at least 2 years of nursing experience.

The role includes a 13-week assignment on a 4x12 night shift (19:00–07:00) in a 6B Cardiac Tele unit, with floating, potential on-call, and vaccination requirements. Housing allowances and licensure reimbursements are provided.

Qualifications

• Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Cardiac telemetry experience within the past year required.
• EPIC experience of 6+ months within the past 12 months required.
• Must attend EPIC training class unless previously employed within the past 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Work in a medical cardiac step-down unit (6B, Cardiac Tele) with 24 rooms and a 1:5 patient ratio.
• Care for adult to geriatric patients with cardiac conditions including CHF, MI, unstable angina, pericardial disease, arrhythmias, pacemaker/ICD issues, and post-cardiac catheterization patients.
• Unit also cares for med/surg patients.
• Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00), working 36 or 48 hours per week.
• 13-week assignment length.
• Floating required in rotation with client staff per facility policy.
• On-call may apply in certain areas such as OT, IR, and Cath Lab.
• Provide telemetry nursing care to cardiac and med/surg patients on a step-down unit.
• Complete up to 7 hours of non-billable training modules during orientation.
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with exemptions subject to CMS guideline compliance.
• COVID vaccination or qualified exemption required, subject to CMS guideline compliance.
• Smoke/nicotine-free facility.
• Previous staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler.
• RTO must be submitted upfront and is approved at manager discretion; minimal RTO requests preferred and some holiday coverage expected.
• On-call staff must reside within 30 miles or 30 minutes of the facility.
