The position features a night shift schedule and opportunities to work across related units if floated. Candidates with geriatric and dementia care experience are strongly preferred, along with med/surg background.

Qualifications

• Active CT or compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Crisis Management Training (CMT) certification administered by CPI or Northwell, or equivalent, at least 6 hours, required.
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care in a geriatric behavioral health setting.
• Care for geriatric adults with multiple medical comorbidities requiring total care.
• Manage patient populations with dementia, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder with medical comorbidities.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and manage involuntary and voluntary patient status.
• Use restraints and seclusion as clinically indicated.
• Work night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:15 AM.
• If floated to other units, perform only helping-hands duties such as sitting with patients, answering call bells, or taking vital signs.
• Candidates with combined med/surg and psych backgrounds are advantageous.
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a reduced rate.
• Provide strong professional references from a manager or above within the past year.

• Involves facilitating therapeutic groups and managing involuntary and voluntary patient status
• Involves use of restraints and seclusion as clinically indicated
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:15 AM
• If floated to other units (medical surgical or ER), only performs helping-hands duties such as sitting with patients, answering call bells, or taking vital signs without full assignment responsibilities
• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care within a geriatric behavioral health setting
• Candidates with combined med/surg and psych backgrounds are especially well-suited for this role
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a reduced rate
• Two strong professional references from a manager or above within the past year required for consideration
