American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Behavioral Health RN for night shift in West Virginia. Requires 1+ year of psychiatric experience and WV or compact RN licensure.

Travel credentials, BLS, CPI, First Aid, and AHA certifications preferred. Orientation and strict attendance policies apply. You will care for adults in Behavioral Health/Psych units on a 3x12 schedule (7:00 PM–7:30 AM), with varied patient ratios.

Qualifications

• Active WV or compact RN license required (pending license acceptable).
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in psychiatry.
• Required BLS, CPI, and First Aid; AHA certifications preferred.
• Experience with various psychiatric disorders including anxiety, mood, psychotic and trauma-related disorders.
• Skilled in emergency care, hold technique, med administration and seclusion protocols.
• Three manager/charge references in the past 2 years are required.

Responsibilities

• Care for adult patients on Behavioral Health/Psych unit.
• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care including med administration and psychoeducation.
• Operate in a 3x12 night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with rotating weekends.
• Follow Avatar EMR and travel staffing procedures; cover shifts as needed.
• Abide by attendance and certification requirements before start.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a night shift position requiring 1+ year of psychiatric experience and WV or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required (pending license acceptable)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, CPI, and First Aid (CPI and First Aid may be obtained during orientation)
• AHA certifications required
• Experience caring for patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, suicidal behavior, and trauma-and stressor-related disorders
• Skilled in emergency care, physical hold protocols, medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, and seclusion protocols
• Minimum 3 manager or charge references within the past 2 years required for consideration
• SSN, DOB, and driver's license required for consideration
• Charge experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Behavioral Health/Psych unit caring for adult patients
• 3x12 Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including weekdays and every other weekend
• Patient ratios range from 1:15-20 for Adults/Forensic units depending on unit, and 1:8 for Adolescent units
• Uses Avatar EMR system
• Travelers fill in for shifts not covered by regular staff; blocked schedule requests cannot be accommodated
• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care including medication administration, therapeutic approaches, and psychoeducation
• Fingerprinting must be completed in West Virginia 7-10 business days prior to start, as results take 5-7 days and are required for clearance to start with no exceptions
• Navy or Royal Blue scrubs provided
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
• Facility is strict on attendance; absences of 3+ consecutive days due to illness require doctor's verification and medical clearance before returning to work
• Orientation held on Mondays from 8:30am-4:30pm; all required modules and CPI training must be completed before arriving or candidates will be sent home with no exceptions
• COVID/Flu vaccination record and CPR card required at orientation
• DHHR Release Form must be completed, hand signed in blue ink, and returned within 48 hours of signing; results required for module access
• Previous probationary actions on license considered on a case-by-case basis
• Perm employees cannot return as travelers; travelers may only work contracts up to 1 year total
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted
