Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a PreOp/Pediatric PACU role at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in Wisconsin. The position requires Epic proficiency, two years of acute care experience, and WI licensure.

Responsibilities include pre/post-operative care, 1:2-3 patient ratios, and utilization of Epic EMR. Shifts are 6:30am–10:30am with potential overtime and unit floating as needed.

Qualifications

• Active WI or compact RN license
• BLS and ACLS required; CCRN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Epic charting experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
• Skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, chest tube management, airway assessment
• Must pass a telemetry exam with multiple attempts
• References are not required for consideration

Responsibilities

• PreOp/Pre-Post surgical unit within a Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Day/evening shifts, Monday-Friday, mostly 8-hour shifts with rotating start times between 6:30am-10:30am
• May be required to stay past scheduled end time to complete the day's caseload
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Involves pre/post-operative care including pre-op assessment, education, and discharge instructions
• Cases span general surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, plastics, and endo/laparoscopic procedures
• Located at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
• Responsibilities include pre-op assessments, medication reconciliation, EKG/ECG acquisition, obtaining consents, and post-op discharge planning
• Administers and monitors procedural sedation, emergency medications, and reversal agents
• Works with various anesthesia types including general, MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
• Parking permit required if parking onsite, though bus and park & ride options are available
