Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Pediatric PACU/Pre-Post Op role in California. Requires CA RN license with ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS, plus 3+ years of nursing and travel experience. Epic charting experience is required.

The position involves Phase II recovery across multiple surgical specialties with varied shifts and travel nursing duties. The role emphasizes comprehensive pre/post care, patient education, discharge planning, and coordination with surgical teams.

Qualifications

• CA RN license and active certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS.
• Minimum 3 years nursing experience, including travel nursing.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC care, blood product administration.

Responsibilities

• Cover Pre/Post care across Surgery, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, IR, Radiology, Infusion services.
• Ambulatory/outpatient setting with Phase II recovery and Pre-Post care duties.
• Maintain patient ratios, 1:3.
• Support early start to late finish with varied day shifts (5:30 AM–8:30 PM).
• Use Epic charting system for documentation.
• Provide comprehensive pre/post care for surgical and procedural patients across specialties.
• Administer and monitor anesthesia types (conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, spinal).
• Pre-op assessments, patient education, med reconciliation, discharge instructions.
• Conduct EKG/ECG readings and obtain consents.
• Assist with wound care, catheterization, airway/chest tube management as needed.
• Support multidisciplinary teams across neuro/spine, ortho, cardiac, plastics.

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric PACU/Pre-Post Op position requiring a CA RN license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications along with prior travel nursing experience.

• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and management
• Experience with pre/post operative assessments, patient education, and discharge planning
• Knowledge of pain assessment, isolation precautions/PPE, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
• Experience managing pediatric patients preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in a Pre/Post area supporting Surgery, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, IR, Radiology, and Infusion services
• Ambulatory/outpatient setting with Phase II recovery and Pre-Post care responsibilities
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Variable day shifts Monday through Friday, starting as early as 5:30 AM and ending as late as 8:30 PM
• Uses Epic charting system
• Cares for surgical patients across specialties including cardiovascular, plastics, neuro/spine, ortho, GU/renal, GI, bariatrics, thoracic, ENT, gyn, and vascular
• Provides pre/post care for cath lab, endoscopy, IR, and operative procedures
• Administers and monitors various types of anesthesia including conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, and spinal
• Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for surgical, endoscopic, cath lab, and IR patients
• Perform pre-op assessments, patient education, medication reconciliation, and discharge instructions
• Conduct EKG/ECG readings and obtain operative/procedural consents
• Assist with wound care, urinary catheterization, and airway/chest tube management as needed
• Support surgical teams across multiple specialties including neuro/spine, ortho, cardiac, and plastics
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning employees must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Holiday coverage limited to one holiday per contract, with holidays observed from 7:00 PM the night before through 7:00 AM the day after
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
