Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a Level I Trauma Center in Missouri. Requires 2 years PACU and critical care experience, along with ACLS and BLS certification. Night and day shifts available with a 4x10 schedule; travel assignment with housing and licensure support.

Open heart/liver transplant recovery not included; RN must have MO or compact license and Epic charting experience; salary commensurate with travel RN market rates.

Qualifications

  • Active MO RN license (or compact license) required
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
  • Critical care/ICU experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills: dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients
  • Experience with pre/post‑op care, 12‑lead EKG/ECG, and pre‑op assessment and education required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work in the PACU of a Magnet‑designated teaching hospital that is a Level I Trauma Center
  • 38‑bed unit open 24/7 with an average daily census of 70‑90 patients
  • Recover surgical patients across neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant specialties
  • Open heart surgery and liver transplant recovery not included
  • Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
  • Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
  • Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours, 12:00 PM-10:30 PM
  • No weekend, holiday, or on‑call requirements
  • Float required within PACU or PreOp units only
  • Epic EMR used for charting
  • Provide post‑anesthesia recovery care for a wide range of acute surgical patients, including those requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive medications
  • Night shift staff will be required to learn how to work up a pre‑op patient
  • Navy blue scrub color required
  • First‑time travelers are accepted, provided they meet the 2 years of Level I Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience requirement
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
  • Returning permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may stay for an 18‑month period and must take a 3‑month break in service afterward
  • Facial hair must accommodate proper fit testing or will need to be shaved with no exceptions
