Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical ICU RN with a WI or compact license and at least 2 years of high-acuity ICU experience for a level 2 trauma tertiary care center.

Responsibilities include care for postoperative cardiac and trauma patients in a 16-bed SICU, with 12-hour shifts and a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, plus potential cross-coverage in MICU. Cerner system transitioning to Epic; travel-friendly role with housing and licensure support.

Qualifications

• Active WI or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of high-acuity ICU and surgical ICU experience.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• TNCC certification preferred.
• Experience titrating drips (epinephrine, norepinephrine, propofol, precedex, vasoactive meds, insulin, dopamine, norepinephrine, milrinone).
• CRRT/IABP/Impella/ECMO experience desired but not required.
• 2 professional references (1 supervisor, 1 peer).

Responsibilities

• Acute care SICU duties in a level 2 trauma center.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios 1:2 standard; 1:1 for high-acuity patients.
• Care for cardiovascular surgery, trauma, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular, neuro, and other ICU cases.
• Utilize Cerner EMR; transitioning to Epic.
• 12-hour shifts: 07:00–19:30 or 19:00–07:30.
• On-call only during scheduled shifts for low census.
• Floating to MICU or observer duties as needed.
• RT coverage in ICU 24/7 with full respiratory support.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical ICU RN with a WI or compact license and at least 2 years of high-acuity ICU experience for a level 2 trauma tertiary care center.

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, including high-acuity ICU and surgical ICU patient populations
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience titrating drips required, including Epi, norepi, propofol, precedex, vaso, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, and milrinone
• CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO experience desired but not required
• 2 professional references required: 1 from a supervisor and 1 from a peer or supervisor

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting in the 2E Surgical ICU (SICU) of a level 2 trauma center
• 16-bed unit plus 2 additional procedural beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 standard, 1:1 for higher acuity patients (CRRT, immediate post-op hearts, MTP, OPO), and 1:3 for medsurg/floor status patients
• Patient population includes cardiovascular surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, AAA), trauma, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular, neuro, general, ortho, and ENT surgical patients requiring ICU care
• Cerner EMR used, currently transitioning to Epic
• 12-hour shifts, either 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating to MICU or to serve as a patient observer elsewhere in the hospital if not needed in SICU
• Charge nurse present every shift and typically does not take patient assignments
• Nursing House Supervisor available 24/7 and intensivist in house 24/7
• RT coverage in the ICU 24/7 with full range of respiratory equipment (vents, BiPAP, Vapotherm)
• One nursing assistant covers the entire unit during day shift; not typical on nights
• RNs monitor and interpret their own telemetry using GE monitors
• On-call only applies during a scheduled shift in the event of low census
• Care for POD 1 heart patients, with immediate postop heart patients cared for 1:1 by specifically trained nurses
• Unit orientation includes one day of system onboarding/CBT followed by two orientation shifts and completion of a skills checklist
• No specific scrub color required; clean and professional dress expected
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
• Former Marshfield permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission and require hospital approval to return
