Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a PACU position in Minnesota. Requires high-acuity recovery experience with at least 2 years ICU or 3 years ED background. Active MN RN license required (pending accepted). PACU skills across ortho, spine, neuro, general, and oncology surgeries, plus ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications.

Travelers welcome; shift options are 3x12s with 9:00-21:30 or 11:00-23:30. Benefits include housing allowance, insurance, and licensure reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted).
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience or 3 years ED experience required.
• Experience with high acuity PACU patients required.
• PACU proficiency with ortho, spine, neuro, general, and oncology surgical patients required.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS.
• Experience with ventilators and post-op recovery of oncology, ortho, gyn, neuro, and general surgery patients required.
• Ability to care for hemodynamically unstable patients in Phase I recovery required.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Phase I PACU setting caring for high acuity post-surgical patients.
• Patient population includes ortho, spine, neuro, general, and oncology surgical cases.
• Patient ratio of 1:2 for both day and night shifts.
• Shift options are 3x12s: 9:00-21:30 or 11:00-23:30.
• Weekend shifts required as needed per department needs.
• Floating required within scope to Pre-op, PACU, Phase II, and Helping Hands areas in hospital, or to an affiliate hospital nearby.
• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care across a variety of surgical specialties.
• Navy blue scrubs required.

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience or 3 years ED experience required
• Experience with high acuity PACU patients required
• PACU proficiency with ortho, spine, neuro, general, and oncology surgical patients required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: CAPA, CCRN, CPAN
• Experience with ventilators and post-op recovery of oncology, ortho, gyn, neuro, and general surgery patients required
• Ability to care for hemodynamically unstable patients in Phase I recovery required
• Skills required include cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with PCA pump management, post-epidural management, and pre/post-op care required
• 1 supervisor reference required for consideration

• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care across a variety of surgical specialties
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must be gone at least 3 months from last shift worked as a Perm (Staff or Per Diem) employee to be eligible for return
• RTO should be limited to no more than 5 days
• Does not accept local candidates; must live at least 100 miles from the facility
• Facility does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or to those who previously worked as perm staff
