Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric PACU RN for a day-shift assignment requiring PALS certification and pediatric PACU experience.

Responsibilities include 1:1 patient care in a short-term teaching hospital, with 3x12 hour days, no weekends or on-call, and Epic charting. You may float to other units based on needs; several anesthesia types are used, including conscious sedation and MAC.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Compact must be in hand at submission).
• Current BLS and PALS required; ACLS preferred.
• OR RN license required.
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric PACU experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management.
• Skilled in pain assessment and management, including RASS scale.
• Familiarity with malignant hyperthermia protocol.
• 2 references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years, from supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric PACU of a short-term acute care teaching hospital.
• 1:1 patient ratio.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00.
• No weekends or on-call required.
• Floating to other units and sister facilities within the health system may be required based on skill set.
• Uses Epic for charting.
• Cases include ENT, ophthalmology, ortho, and plastics surgeries.
• Exposure to various anesthesia types including conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, and nerve blocks.
• Provide perianesthesia care to pediatric surgical patients, including monitoring for conscious sedation, general, local, and MAC anesthesia.
• Administer medications including narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents as needed.
• Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment.
• Scrub color is any color, except OR/Cath Lab where scrubs are provided.
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day).
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate.
• Radius requirement of 50 miles for local candidate consideration.
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided minimum experience requirements are met.
