Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for Pediatric ICU positions at two campuses in Illinois. Must hold an IL RN license and have at least 2 years PICU experience.

Shifts are 12 hours (7p-7a) with 36 hours/week, every-other weekend, and nursing support across PICU/PCICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics at Oak Lawn and Park Ridge. Epic EMR systems, 24/7 support, and no on-call requirements structure the role.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of PICU RN experience.
• BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP highly preferred.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN.
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Pediatric ICU/PCICU unit at a children's hospital with 19-23 beds and an average daily census of 15-18 patients.
• RN to patient ratio of 2:1.
• Patient population includes respiratory, congenital heart disease, hematology/oncology, post-op, and trauma cases.
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a), 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend rotation required.
• Holiday coverage as needed by the unit.
• Required to float between PICU/PCICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics across both Oak Lawn and Park Ridge campuses.
• No on-call or call-back requirements.
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing system, and Med Sonic monitors.
• Work within a Level 1 trauma designated, teaching hospital with Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center designations.
• Unit culture emphasizes teamwork and a friendly environment.
• Department support includes CNAs, receptionist, charge nurse, in-house phlebotomy, IV team, resource nurse, and tele tech.
• 24/7 support available from RT, hospitalist, and intensivist staff.
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation in the PICU.
• Navy scrubs required; free parking provided.
• Previous travel experience not required, making this suitable for first-time travelers.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius rules.
• Former Advocate Health employees must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment.
