American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced PACU RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level I Trauma Center. Requires Critical Care/PACU background and on-call availability.

The role includes complex postoperative care across neuro, ortho, cardiovascular, GI, and plastics, with exposure to robotics, transplant, thoracic, and vascular procedures. Active PA or Compact RN license with ACLS/BLS/PALS/TNCC is required, plus 2+ years in CC/PACU.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required at time of consideration.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required.
• 2+ years of Critical Care or PACU experience; 3 years preferred.
• Level I Trauma Center and ICU background required; teaching hospital experience preferred.
• SICU, MICU, CTICU experience preferred; travel experience in CC/PACU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for surgical patients across multiple specialties in a Level I Trauma Center.
• Provide pre/post-operative care and anesthesia support (including general, spinal, MAC, nerve blocks).
• Monitor pain, administer analgesia, and manage PCA and sedation scales.
• Perform pre/post op assessments, education, and medications reconciliation.
• Support potential floating to related centers as needed and adhere to Cerner charting.
• Reside within 50 miles for local rate; adhere to 6-week on-call schedule.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN for a 13-week Level I Trauma Center assignment requiring Critical Care/PACU experience and on-call availability.

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required at time of consideration
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC
• 2+ years of experience in Critical Care or PACU required
• 3 years of experience preferred
• Level I Trauma Center and ICU background required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• SICU, MICU, and CTICU experience preferred
• Prior travel experience in Critical Care/PACU preferred
• Experience with 1:2 patient ratios
• Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, intubation, extubation, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring including arterial lines and CVP
• Pass/fail clinical exam required for clearance (up to 3 attempts allowed)
• 2 valid professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Copies of certifications required for consideration

Responsibilities

• PACU unit within a Level I Trauma Center setting
• Patient mix includes adults and pediatrics
• Day shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM-6:30 PM)
• On-call required: 2 weekday on-call shifts plus 1 weekend 12-hour on-call shift within a 6-week schedule
• Includes 1 summer and 1 winter on-call holiday coverage
• Possible floating to Tabor GI or Pain Center as needed
• Uses Cerner Aecis SurgiNet charting system
• 13-week assignment length
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Provide pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients across multiple specialties including neuro, ortho, cardiovascular, GI, and plastics
• Support surgery types including robotics, transplant, thoracic, and vascular procedures
• Administer and monitor various anesthesia types including general, spinal, MAC, and nerve blocks
• Manage pain assessment, PCA pumps, and sedation scales such as RASS
• Perform pre/post op assessments, education, and medication reconciliation
• Scrubs provided
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration; requests after submission will not be accepted
• Must reside within 50 miles for standard local rate; local candidates accepted at a different rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Labs must be completed within 48 hours of signing
• PA fingerprinting required, which may involve travel over 100 miles and must be completed within 1 week of signing
