Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in Albuquerque, NM. Requires 2+ years of Level I trauma and telemetry experience, active NM or Compact RN license, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.

Day shift from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM, 4x12s, 1:2 patient ratio in PACU, with on-call and holiday work; travel stipends and licensure reimbursements provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license NM or Compact; pending license accepted.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience.
• Level I Trauma experience required; Level II trauma not accepted.
• Telemetry experience required.
• Skills in respiratory care, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia recognition/management.
• Ventilator patient care experience preferred.
• RQI certifications not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient PACU care within a Level I Trauma teaching hospital.
• 1:2 patient ratio in PACU.
• Day shift, 4x12 hours, 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM.
• Work 2 out of 3 designated holiday bundles.
• One weekend shift required per month.
• On-call required with 1–2 overnight shifts per 4-week schedule.
• Float to PACU Holding as needed (ratio 1:3-5).
• Cerner charting system used; pre/post cath lab and IR procedures included.
• Pre-op care willingness required; limited pediatric experience acceptable.

• Required to work 2 out of 3 designated holiday bundles (Thanksgiving/day after, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• One weekend shift required per month
• On-call required, 1-2 overnight call shifts per 4-week schedule
• Float to PACU Holding area as needed, with ratios of 1:3-5 for patients equivalent to inpatient PCU acuity
• Cerner charting system used
• Pre/Post Cath lab and Pre/Post IR procedures required
• Pre-op care willingness is required
• No block scheduling accommodations offered
• Provide PACU nursing care including pre/post cath lab and pre/post IR procedures
• Limited to no pediatric experience is acceptable for this role
• Charge experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers may be considered upon client screening
• No local candidates within 100 miles of the facility
• Non-local driver's license required on file
• RTO requests over 7 days require approval, and no RTO permitted during the first or last week of the contract
• Black scrubs required
• Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week assignment
• COVID vaccine optional, but vaccination status reporting is required
• 6-month system break required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments
• Former staff must have 12 months of separation before returning
