Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS at AHA standards required.
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required.
• Previous charge nurse experience required.
• CPI certification required; Calm Every Storm accepted.
• NRP or AAP certification accepted; PALS and NIHSS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 28-bay PACU peri-anesthesia care 24/7 across lifespan.
• Maintain 1:2 patient ratio.
• Rotate day/night 3x12 shifts; schedule dependent.
• On-call 1–2 12-hour shifts every 6 weeks.
• Floating within specialty as needed; travelers prioritized.
• Support 20+ surgical/procedural services (neuro, ortho, cardiac, etc.).
• Holiday coverage as scheduled.
• Navy blue scrubs required.
• First-time travelers accepted for this position.
• Travelers must float with no restrictions.
• Candidates living <50 miles from hospital not accepted.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring strong ICU experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Strong ICU experience required as a hard requirement
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
• Competency in vasopressor titration, airway management, ventilated patient care, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation
• Skilled in care of ventilated patients, chest tube management, intubation/extubation, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with central line care, PICC line management, and IV therapy preferred
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version currently accepted)
• NRP or AAP certification accepted
• PALS and NIHSS certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• 28-bay PACU providing 24/7 peri-anesthesia care to patients across the lifespan, from neonates to geriatrics
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Rotating day/night 3x12 shifts (7:00-19:00 / 19:30-7:30), schedule dependent on department needs
• EOW (every other weekend) required, 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule cycle
• On-call required: 1-2 12-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule (7a-7:30p or 7p-7:30a)
• Floating required within specialty as needed, with travelers prioritized to float
• Supports more than 20 surgical and procedural services including neuro, ortho, cardiac, plastics, GI, GYN, and transplant cases
• Epic charting system preferred
• Provide pre- and post-operative peri-anesthesia care to inpatients and outpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery
• Deliver care across a broad range of surgical specialties including neuro, cardiac, bariatric, plastics, ortho, and transplant
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Travelers must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions
• Candidates living under 50 miles from the hospital are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Returning staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers typically must wait at least 6 months after completing an assignment before returning to the system
