Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a PACU RN for a 13-week rotating assignment in New Hampshire. An active NH or compact license and PACU Level II experience are required.

The nurse will provide recovery care for a pediatric-to-adult population in a 10-bay PACU and work on both day and night shifts with on-call obligations. Responsibilities include handling diverse cases from lumpectomies to open heart procedures, maintaining CPAN-guided patient ratios, and collaborating with a team of 13 RNs.

Qualifications

  • Active NH RN license or compact license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital setting
  • PACU Level II experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • ICU, ER, or CPAN experience preferred
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 10-bay PACU recovery room caring for a pediatric-to-adult patient population
  • Care for cases ranging from lumpectomies to open heart surgery, including trauma
  • Day shift staffing varies from 6-8 RNs depending on surgical case volume
  • Night shift with 24-hour call coverage and defined weekend coverage
  • Call requires a 30-minute response time and being ready to accept a patient
  • On-call schedule includes weekly Monday-Thursday calls, some Fridays, and two 24-hour weekends
  • Unit self-schedules with nurse leader adjusting staff as needed
  • Floating to Endo and SDC as needed
  • Uses GE monitors, Stryker and Hillrom beds, and Expanse EMR
  • Patient ratios follow CPAN guidelines

Responsibilities
  • Work in a 10-bay PACU recovery room caring for a pediatric-to-adult patient population
  • Cases range from lumpectomies, tubes, and tonsillectomies to open heart surgery, including trauma
  • Day shift staffing varies from 6-8 RNs depending on surgical case volume
  • Night shift involves 24-hour call coverage beginning at 9:30pm-7:30am Monday-Friday, with full 24-hour coverage Saturday and Sunday
  • Call requires a 30-minute response time, dressed and ready to accept a patient
  • On-call frequency is once a week Monday-Thursday, one Friday every five weeks, and two 24-hour weekend shifts within a five-week schedule
  • Unit self-schedules with the nurse leader adjusting staff as needed
  • Floating to Endo and SDC as needed
  • Uses GE patient monitors, Stryker and Hillrom beds
  • Uses Expanse EMR
  • Patient ratios follow CPAN guidelines
  • Rotating shift schedule from 7:00AM-7:00PM
  • Provide recovery and post-anesthesia care to a pediatric-to-adult patient population across a wide range of surgical cases
  • Team of 13 RNs supporting the unit
  • Hospital-provided scrubs
  • Best fit for upbeat, flexible, compassionate, patient-focused team players willing to help as needed
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
