Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a CVOR RN for a Level I/II trauma hospital. Requires 24+ months CVOR experience and proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic cases.

You will work in a high-volume OR with 16 suites, typically 12-14 rooms, and a mix of cardiac, vascular, ortho, and trauma cases. Epic EMR is used; travel responsibilities and housing/licensing reimbursements are provided.

Qualifications

• Active IA RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months Operating Room experience
• CVOR experience with 80% cardiac and 20% general cases
• Strong cardiac, vascular, thoracic experience required
• General circulating OR experience required
• Scrub experience including open heart scrubbing
• Trauma Level II experience; Level I preferred
• Must have completed a travel assignment within 15 months; no first-time travelers
• Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-volume OR with 16 suites
• 1:1 patient ratio with 35-50 cases per day
• Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Ortho, robotics, GYN, URO, general, pediatrics, and transplants
• Use DaVinci robots and Neuro navigation tech
• Orientation includes weeks in general OR, then vascular orientation
• Transition to circulating heart cases and scrubbing as comfortable

American Traveler is hiring a CVOR RN for a Level I/II trauma hospital, requiring 24+ months recent CVOR experience and proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic cases.

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months current/recent Operating Room experience required
• CVOR experience required, with 80% cardiac case experience and 20% general case experience
• Strong and proficient experience in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic cases required
• Basic general surgery circulating experience required if not assigned to cardiac cases
• General circulating/general operating room experience required
• Scrub experience including open heart scrubbing required
• Epic EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months; no first-time travelers
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within 24 months preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-volume Operating Room with 16 suites, routinely running 12-14 rooms
• Patient ratio of 1:1 with average caseload of 35-50 cases per day and turnover expectation under 20 minutes
• Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, GYN, URO, general, pediatrics, and transplants, plus small volume ENT and plastics
• Facility uses 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, and primarily Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma
• Both scrub and circulate responsibilities preferred
• Day shift, 4x10s with rotating day off, 6:30 AM-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/week
• Call required up to 2 overnights per week and 1 weekend per month (Friday 5p through Monday 6:30a)
• Holiday rotation required
• Float required across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
• Uses Epic EMR
• Orientation includes approximately 2-3 weeks in general OR rooms, followed by 2 weeks circulating and scrubbing in vascular cases due to CVOR call including vascular coverage
• After vascular orientation, RNs transition into circulating heart cases and eventually scrubbing once comfortable with room flow
• For the first 6 weeks, RNs take general call for the department before transitioning to cardiac call
• Department is staffed 24 hours per day with charge nurse oversight to ensure appropriate case assignments
• Scrubs are provided
• Reserved OR space is maintained for trauma cases as a Level I trauma center
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any UPH market facility within 12 months of separation, unless their prior role was travel-based
• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Limited time-off requests permitted during peak holiday periods
