Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a CVOR RN for a circulating position in Indianapolis. Requires 2 years CVOR experience, BLS, Indiana license, and Cerner experience. Level I Trauma preferred for first-time travelers.Responsibilities include circulating in CVOR, heart and lung transplants, ECMO, and 100 hours of call per 6 weeks.

3x12 shifts, holidays required. Travel perks and housing allowance provided. Ideal candidates have experience in teaching hospitals and Level I Trauma settings.

Qualifications

• Must hold IN license or compact license before start.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years CVOR experience required.
• First-time travelers accepted only with prior Level I Trauma experience.
• Cerner charting experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred.
• Skills in cardiovascular care and aortic aneurysm repair required.
• 2 supervisor references required.
• SSN and DOB required for consideration.
• Graduate of ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Circulating role in the CVOR unit, scrubbing not required.
• Short-term acute care hospital setting with 70-80 average daily census across 24 rooms.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:30 to 19:00.
• Specialized procedures include heart and lung transplants, aortic dissections, and ECMO.
• Uses Cerner charting system.
• Floating required to other OR specialties.
• Call requirement of approximately 100 hours per 6 weeks, including 1 call weekend per 6 weeks (Friday evening to Monday morning).
• Provide circulating nursing support for complex cardiovascular surgical cases including transplants and aortic repairs.
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
• RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval.
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply with qualifying experience.
• IN residents are considered local and may be offered a lower pay package.
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler.
• Travelers with 12 months of accrued IU Health travel employment must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state, 6 months for in-state residents).
