Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with an active IL license and at least 3 years of OR nursing experience for a Level 1 trauma acute care facility.

Shifts include nights, evenings, days; rotating 8-hour blocks with on-call duties weekly. Scrubbing, Epic EMR use, and a supportive OR team are required for this role. Location is Illinois with housing and travel support provided.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required
• Scrubbing skills required
• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Responsibilities

• Level 1 trauma acute care facility with a 15-suite operating room
• Averages 25-45 surgical cases per day across specialties including general, GYN, urology, plastics, robotics, neuro, ortho, spine, EENT, and cardiothoracic
• Charge RN available 24/7 who does not take a patient assignment but assists as needed
• Support staff includes 1-2 surgical techs per patient and 3-4 CNAs during the day, reducing to 1 by evening
• Uses Epic EMR
• Rotating 8-hour shifts with various start times including nights, evenings/mid shifts, and days
• On-call responsibilities approximately once per week on weeknights and every 3rd to 4th weekend
• No floating required
• Facility follows a Drug-Free Campus policy
• One week of unit/department specific orientation provided
• Scrubs are provided by the facility, with casual professional dress required to enter/leave the facility
• Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
• Call-off policy allows the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks without penalty
