Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for an Operating Room position in Louisiana. Requires 1 year of Ortho & Spine OR experience and an active LA or compact RN license. Current BLS/ACLS certs are required; BSN not mandatory. Scrubbing is not required for RNs.

Day shift 6:00am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday, with 2 call days per week and rotating holidays. Travel-friendly facility with housing allowance and travel reimbursements; first-time travelers welcome.

Qualifications

Active RN license (LA state or compact) required.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required.
Minimum 1 year of Ortho & Spine OR experience required.
BSN not required.
Scrubbing not required for RNs.
Must be able to work independently in a room.

Responsibilities

Acute care OR unit with 8 surgical suites and ~25 cases daily.
Perform Makoplasty total joint and Stryker/Arthrex cases.
15-minute turnover between cases; 30 minutes for robotic cases.
Day shift 6:00am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday.
1 RN and 1 tech per room; vendor reps present for implants.
Charge nurse assigns tasks and supports turnover.
Uses CPSI EMR system.
2 call days per week; call 16h first, 4h second; 30min-1h response.
Weekend call about 1 weekend every 8 weeks.
Holiday coverage is call-only with rotating staff.
No floating; friendly, collaborative OR team in a physician-owned facility.
First-time travelers welcome; 2-3 day orientation; scrubs provided.
Must live within 50 miles of the facility.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 1 year of Ortho & Spine OR experience and an active LA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Acute care Operating Room unit with 8 surgical suites averaging 25 cases per day
Common procedures include Makoplasty total joint replacements (hips & knees), Stryker/Arthrex cases for shoulders, ankles, hands, and podiatry, ALIFs, ACDF, arthroscopies, 360 fusions for scoliosis, spinal cord tumor removal, microdiscs, sports medicine, and pain management cases
15 minute turnover times between cases, 30 minutes for robotic cases
Day shift schedule 6:00am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday
1 RN and 1 tech staffed per room, with vendor reps present for implant cases
Charge nurse functions as a board runner, making assignments and serving as a resource
Uses CPSI EMR system
Call requirements include 2 call days per week (1st call 16 hours, 2nd call 4 hours), with call response time of 30 minutes to 1 hour
Weekend call required approximately 1 weekend every 8 weeks
Holiday coverage is call-only, with holidays rotating among staff
No floating required
Work alongside OR techs in a fast-paced, physician-owned facility
Friendly, collaborative staff culture where team members assist with turning over and cleaning rooms between cases
Facility has experience working with travelers and welcomes them
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
2-3 day unit-specific orientation provided
Hospital provides scrubs for OR staff
