Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with craniotomy and burr hole experience for a fast-paced surgical unit covering neuro/spine, ortho/trauma, and general/robotics/trauma cases.

The role requires an active TX RN license, BLS, and at least 2 years of OR experience, including neurosurgical procedures. Travel opportunities and competitive pay with housing assistance are offered.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care across neuro/spine, ortho/trauma, and general/robotic cases
• Maintain 1:1 patient ratio in the OR
• Work a 3x12 hour day shift (6:30 AM–7:00 PM)
• Be available for call and late days as needed
• Utilize Da Vinci Xi for robotic procedures
• Adapt to on-site drug screening policies and orientation modules

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with required craniotomy and burr hole experience for a fast-paced surgical unit covering neuro/spine, ortho/trauma, and general/robotics/trauma cases.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• CNOR, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required in service line
• Craniotomy and burr hole experience required
• Experience with trauma cases including amputations, burns, gunshot/stab wounds, and MVA with multiple injuries
• Experience with neurology procedures including anterior cervical fusion, cervical fusion, craniotomy, kyphoplasty, and laminectomy/discectomy
• Experience with orthopedic procedures including ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, and fracture reductions
• Experience with general surgery procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, and mastectomy
• Robotic surgery experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System preferred
• Trauma Level I or II hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
• Covers Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, and General/Robotics/Trauma surgical cases
• 1:1 patient ratio in the OR
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Schedule may include Mon/Tues/Thurs or Tues/Thurs/Fri rotations
• Call and late days required as needed
• Uses Da Vinci Xi Surgical System for robotic procedures
• Allscripts charting system preferred but not required
• Provide perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties including neuro, ortho, trauma, and general/robotic surgery
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with a positive result resulting in automatic cancellation
• Candidates should avoid any products, including CBD, that could result in a positive drug screen upon arrival
• Clinicians must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer or provide a completion plan within that timeframe
• Modules are completed during orientation and average 6-8 hours
• RN/LVN candidates must reside within 150 miles of the facility
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Previous perm staff must be separated from employment for at least one year before returning as a traveler
