Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week assignment in a Level 1 trauma hospital in Florida. The candidate must have Meditech EMR experience and strong ortho, neuro, and robotics skills, with the ability to float among OR specialties.

Requirements include an active FL or Compact RN license, current BLS/ACLS, and at least 2 years in an acute OR setting. Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius and provide two professional references.

Qualifications

  • Active FL or Compact RN license.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an acute hospital OR setting (surgical center experience not accepted).
  • Strong ortho, neuro, and robotics experience required.
  • Must be willing to float among different OR specialties.
  • Required Meditech EMR experience.
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted).
  • Two professional references required for Florida-based positions.
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Surgery department (701) with 20 operating rooms and a staff of 110, including directors, charge RNs, OR coordinators, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and CRNAs.
  • Day shift includes a director, manager, and 18 teams each consisting of an RN and tech; night shift has 2 teams plus 1 on-call team.
  • 1:1 patient ratio.
  • Uses sterile accessories, circulators, sponges, gowning, gloving, tubing, cords, and various surgical instruments.
  • Performs robotics procedures including Da Vinci, SP, DV5, Mako, and Stealth (Neuro) along with burn, cysto fluid management, GI tower, endo, laparoscopic, ENT, eye, trauma, and endovascular hybrid room cases.
  • Requires Meditech documentation system experience.
  • Call requirements include 2 weekend shifts (8 hrs each), 4 evening shifts (4 hrs each), and 1 overnight shift (8 hrs) per month.
  • Shift hours are 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
  • Prepare operating rooms, arrange equipment, and assist surgeons during procedures.
  • Maintain a 30-minute room turnaround time.
  • Inspect, maintain, decontaminate, and repair surgical equipment including inventory recordkeeping.
  • Perform pre- and post-surgical duties such as shaving, transporting patients, and applying dressings.
  • Facility is a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center with an American Heart Association Gold Plus Achievement Award.
  • Scrubs provided in ciel blue color; candidates must bring their own lock and working shoes.
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible.
  • Local candidates are not accepted under any circumstances.
