Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse - Operating Room with at least 3 years of OR experience and Level I Trauma background for a night shift assignment requiring a PA or compact RN license. The role is based at a Level I Trauma hospital within reach of Philadelphia, Pa.

You will scrub and circulate across general, vascular, neurology, and orthopedic cases. Expect 1:1 patient ratios, night shifts (4x10 hours), with weekend/on-call requirements and possible float to GI or Center One

Qualifications

• Active RN license (PA state or compact) required at time of consideration
• BSN required
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an OR RN
• At least 2-3 years of Level I and Level II Trauma experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience required
• BLS and TNCC certifications required
• Trauma certification required
• Experience with liver and kidney surgical cases required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
• Valid professional references and certification copies required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the Operating Room unit of a Level I Trauma hospital
• Performs scrub and circulate duties for general, vascular, neurology, and orthopedic surgeries
• Includes trauma cases such as gunshot/stab wounds and multiple-injury MVAs
• Handles procedures including craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion, carotid endarterectomy, and total joint replacement
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule (4x10 hours, 7:00 PM-5:00 AM)
• May float to GI unit or Center One Surgery Center
• Requires 1 worked weekend and up to 6 weekday on-call shifts plus 2 weekend on-call shifts within a 6-week period
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Provides perioperative nursing care across general, vascular, neurological, and orthopedic surgical specialties
• Supports trauma surgery cases including emergency and multi-system trauma patients
• Holiday coverage required for summer and winter holidays
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius to qualify for the local rate differential
