Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week day shift assignment in Texas. Requires 2+ years OR experience, Epic charting, and active TX or compact RN license. BLS and ACLS certifica tions are needed.

Travel-friendly role with comprehensive benefits and On-site onboarding. The RN will support General, Ortho, OB/GYN, GI and other specialties, handle call rotations, and document perioperative care using Epic.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license in hand at submission.
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Experience with a range of surgical procedures including thoracic, general, ortho, urology, and spinal.
• Familiarity with cell saver equipment and OR safety protocols.
• Knowledge of universal protocol, specimen handling, wound management, and infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care across multiple surgical specialties.
• Operate in OR settings supporting General, Ortho, OB/GYN, GI, Colorectal, ENT, and Pain Management procedures.
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
• Share call responsibilities; average 10 shifts per month.
• Use Epic charting system for documentation.
• Participate in call rotation with OR RN team.
• Complete onboarding modules onsite during orientation (4–6 hours).
• Travel-related RTO must be submitted prior to consideration; limited approvals in first week.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with a range of surgical procedures including thoracic, general surgery, orthopedic, urology, and spinal procedures
• Familiarity with cell saver equipment and operating room safety protocols
• Knowledge of universal protocol, specimen handling, wound management, and infection control practices

Responsibilities

• Operating Room setting supporting General, Ortho, OB/GYN, GI, Colorectal, ENT, and Pain Management procedures
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
• Call responsibilities split between 3 RNs, averaging 10 shifts per month
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide perioperative nursing care across multiple surgical specialties
• Participate in call rotation shared among OR RN team
• Complete onboarding modules onsite during orientation, averaging 4-6 hours
• All requested RTO must be submitted prior to consideration, with no RTO approved during the first week of orientation
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved
• Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• Travel experience preferred but not required
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible
