Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position. The role requires 2+ years of OR RN experience, Epic EMR proficiency, and a TX or Compact RN license. Current BLS certification is required.

The RN will handle surgical cases, perioperative care, and patient monitoring in a fast-paced hospital setting. Shifts are 5x8 with call; travel housing and licensure reimbursements are included.

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license required, in hand at time of consideration.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months.
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and vascular access including PICC, central, arterial, and peripheral lines.
• Experience with blood product administration and epidural analgesia.
• Proficient in chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) and oxygen administration.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team activation.
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE.
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips.
• Ostomy care experience required.
• Surgical drain management experience required.
• First-time travelers considered only with 3 years of recent inpatient med/surg RN experience within the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit assignment.
• Mid-shift schedule Monday through Friday, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM (5x8 hours).
• Weekday, weekend, and holiday call required.
• May include charge nurse duties.
• 1:4 patient ratio.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Provide direct patient care in a surgical/operating room environment supporting MS/Tele, telemetry, and plastics cases.
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Charting/skills checklist and certifications must be current and complete for consideration.
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for any positive result.
• Candidates must reside outside a 110-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted.
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting an offer or a completion plan must be in place.
