Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in Charleston, SC. You will scrub and circulate across multiple surgical specialties in a magnet-designated academic setting.

This is a day-shift role (4x10 hours) with on-call and weekend requirements, plus travel housing and licensure support. Active SC license and BLS are required, with preferred trauma-center experience.

Qualifications

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license
• BLS certification
• Radiation badge provided by agency
• At least 2 years of OR experience
• Scrub and circulate experience preferred
• Level I Trauma center experience preferred
• SSN and driver’s license required

Responsibilities

• Work in the Main Operating Room of a Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Support 21 OR suites across surgical specialties
• Nursing team: 75% RNs, 25% CSTs; RNs scrub and circulate
• Day shift: 4x10 hours, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
• On-call up to 4 shifts every 4 weeks
• Weekend shifts up to one every 4 weeks
• Must work at least one holiday period
• Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities
• Uses Epic for charting
• Provide circulating and scrub nursing support across specialties
• Utilizes cutting-edge surgical technology in Magnet environment
• Scrubs provided by the facility
• Local candidates considered at reduced rate; non-local prioritized
• Radius rule of 60 miles for local determination
• Emergency response duties during hurricane season

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• 2 years of OR experience strongly preferred
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• Level I Trauma center experience preferred
• SSN and driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the Main Operating Room of a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital
• 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• Nursing team composed of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists, with RNs trained to both scrub and circulate
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• On-call requirement of up to 4 shifts every 4 weeks
• Weekend requirement of up to one working shift every 4 weeks
• Required to work at least one holiday period (Christmas or New Year's)
• Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities
• Uses Epic for charting
• Provide circulating and scrub nursing support across a wide range of surgical specialties in a busy, nurse-driven department
• Utilizes cutting-edge surgical technology in a Magnet-designated environment
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on the position
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a travel candidate
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate; non-local candidates prioritized
• Radius rule of 60 miles applies for local determination
• All requested time off must be submitted in advance and is subject to facility approval
• Employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties during hurricane season (June through November)
