American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position in Virginia. NIH Stroke Scale certification and Epic charting experience are required, with a VA or compact RN license in hand by start date.

The role involves a 12-bed Neuro ICU, 1:2 patient care, night shift (19:00–07:00) and options for 36–48 hours per week. Minimum 2 years of neuro ICU experience and Epic EMR proficiency are essential. BSN preferred; references required.

Qualifications

• Active RN license VA or compact (must be in hand by start)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in neuro ICU
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Ventilated patient care, stroke management, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management skills required
• Two professional references required

Responsibilities

• 12-bed Neuro ICU unit
• Care for patients with CNS tumors, stroke, neurosurgical conditions
• Patient ratio 1:2
• Night shift 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
• 36 or 48 hours per week possible
• Every other weekend and every other holiday, including 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Must float within scope of practice
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide critical care nursing management for neuro/neurosurgical conditions
• Max 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract; disclose planned vacation dates
• First-time travelers welcome; prior staff/travelers need 1-year separation and leadership approval to return
• No radius rule for this unit

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (may submit with certification pending)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the specialty required
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Skills in care of ventilated patients, CVA/acute stroke management, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management required
• Two professional references required

Responsibilities

• 12-bed critical care Neuro ICU unit
• Cares for patients with CNS tumors, complex spine surgery, acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, endovascular interventions, TBI, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disease, status epilepticus, and CNS infections
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Required to float within scope of practice per facility policy
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide critical care nursing management to patients with life-threatening neurological and neurosurgical conditions
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any vacation time planned between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange a realistic start date
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• No radius rule applies to this unit
