Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Neuro ICU travel assignment. Requires NIHSS certification, KY or Compact RN license, and stroke-center critical care experience.

The role features a day shift (3x12s, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) with 1:4 patient ratio, potential float to stepdown, and benefits including housing and travel reimbursements. EPIC conversion in progress.

Qualifications

• Active KY or Compact RN license required.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required (AHA).
• NIHSS certificate must be current within 2 years of start date.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• At least 9 months of travel nursing experience.
• Minimum 1 year of stroke center critical care experience preferred.
• CRRT experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide neuro ICU nursing in a hospital setting with EPIC system transition.
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with possible float to stepdown.
• 1:4 patient ratio in Neuro ICU.
• Care for acute stroke and post-neurosurgical patients.
• Flex to float to stepdown units as needed.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring NIHSS certification and stroke center critical care experience.

Requirements

• Active KY or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
• NIHSS certificate must be current, obtained within 2 years of start date
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• At least 9 months of travel nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a certified stroke center critical care unit preferred
• CRRT experience highly preferred
• Stroke signs/symptoms competency required (e.g., BE-FAST)
• Bedside dysphagia screening competency required
• IV-tPA administration and post-tPA monitoring competency required
• Familiarity with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
• Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and BiPAP/CPAP management preferred
• Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care preferred
• Experience managing TBI and spinal cord injury patients preferred
• Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions

Responsibilities

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a hospital transitioning to EPIC
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• May float to stepdown unit
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Facility undergoing EPIC conversion; Meditech experience preferred but not required
• Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU patients, including acute stroke and post-neurosurgical cases
• Candidates must be flexible to float to stepdown units as needed
• Must reside outside a 65-mile radius of the facility; local travelers are not accepted
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved prior to confirmation
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
