Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Neuro ICU RN for a night shift in Washington. Must have 2+ years of ICU experience and strong neurological care skills. Active WA or compact RN license is required at submission, with BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.

CCRN preferred. Epic charting experience is essential, and 3x12 hour night shifts with every other weekend are expected. This assignment offers generous benefits, travel reimbursement, housing assistance, and time-off flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Care for high acuity neuro and general ICU patients in Neuro-Trauma ICU.
• Manage sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, GIB, and COVID cases.
• Patient ratio typically 1:2, up to 1:4 for downgraded patients.
• Operate ventilators, EVDs, bolts, pacemakers, thermoregulation equipment, NXStage CRRT.
• Epic EMR experience required.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and strong neurological care skills.

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• CCRN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Strong neuro ICU skills including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care
• Experience with ventilator management, arterial line and central line care, and continuous IV sedation
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Preferred skills include hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury management, and Swan Ganz monitoring
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Responsibilities

• Work in the Neuro-Trauma Intensive Care Unit of a 325-bed short-term acute care hospital
• Care for high acuity neuro patients as well as general ICU patients including sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, GIB, and COVID cases
• Patient ratio typically 1:2, adjusting to 1:4 for downgraded patients awaiting transfer
• Utilizes ventilators, EVDs, bolts, pacemakers, thermoregulation equipment, and NXStage CRRT
• Epic EMR experience required
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required between like units such as PCU, MS/Tele, and MS Neuro within scope
• No on-call requirements
• Provide critical care nursing to high acuity neuro and general ICU patients
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary ICU team under physician and charge RN guidance
• Floating between sister facilities within the health system may be required
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for a travel contract
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
