Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Neuro ICU RN for a 13-week night-shift assignment in California. CA RN licensure and Neuro ICU critical care experience are required.

The role features a 12-bed Neuro ICU with nurse-to-patient ratios up to 1:2, night hours 19:00–07:30, and EPIC EMR usage. Prior travel experience and two supervisor references are mandatory, with local candidates eligible at the same pay rate.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted).
• Minimum 2 years RN experience (1 year if from academic trauma center).
• Minimum 1 year acute care experience.
• Minimum 1 year Neuro ICU specialty experience in past 2 years.
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• EPIC EMR experience reflected in work history.

Responsibilities

• Care for 12-bed Neuro ICU unit with RN:patient ratios 1:2 to 1:1 by acuity.
• Care for neuro trauma, post-surgical, stroke, and seizure patients; overflow from MICU/SICU.
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30.
• Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and orders.
• Provide critical care nursing for complex neurological and overflow ICU patients.
• Manager may omit interview prior to placement.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Neuro ICU RN for a 13-week night-shift assignment requiring CA RN licensure and critical care neuro experience.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1 year considered if from an academic trauma center)
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• Minimum 1 year full-time equivalent experience in Neuro ICU specialty within the past 2 years
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (CPI and MAB preferred)
• EPIC EMR experience required and must be reflected in work history
• Skilled in ICP monitoring and arterial line management
• Experience with critical care skills including IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, ventilator care, CVVHD/CRRT, and vasoactive drip titration preferred
• Experience managing neurological conditions such as EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy, and TBI preferred
• Two supervisor references required for consideration
• Prior travel experience required

• Manager may choose not to conduct an interview prior to placement
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Previous employees must have a minimum 1-year gap before returning as a traveler
• No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract preferred
• RTO requests must be confirmed at the time of application and cannot be changed after manager submission
