Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse with strong neuro critical care skills for a night shift assignment in Virginia. Candidates must hold a Virginia or Compact RN license or in-hand credential, plus BLS/ACLS and NIHSS certifications, with Epic EMR proficiency.

Responsibilities include caring for neuro, trauma, and medical ICU patients, 1:2-3 nurse-to-patient ratios, and 3x12 or 4x12 shift patterns. Travel, housing, and licensure reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only).
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Minimum three years of critical care experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required.

Responsibilities

• ICU setting with experience in Medical, Neuro, Surgical, and Trauma ICU populations.
• Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3.
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM).
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract.
• Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held.
• 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients, including neuro, surgical, trauma, and medical cases.
• EKG proficiency testing required with a passing score of 80% or higher, no remediation available.
• Three hours of pre-start orientation modules required and billable.
• Local RN candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position.
• Required time off must be submitted in advance for review and approval on a case-by-case basis.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro critical care skills for a night shift position requiring a VA or compact RN license and proficiency in Epic.

Requirements

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum three years of critical care experience preferred
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Strong neuro critical care experience required
• Skilled in ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Experience with arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drips, and emergency medications
• Experience managing CVA/acute stroke, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical patients
• No prior license or background history issues permitted
• No PAPR accommodation available; history of fit test issues will eliminate candidacy
