Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU role in Massachusetts. You will care for complex neuro and neurosurgical patients in a 36-bed neuroscience unit, with 12-hour rotating shifts and a 1:3 patient ratio.

Requires MA RN license, NIHSS/ACLS/BLS, and hands-on EVD/lumbar drain/arterial line experience. The position offers housing allowance, travel and licensure reimbursements, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of neuro critical care experience.

• Basic proficiency navigating web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in a 36-bed Neuroscience unit with mixed IMCU and ICU beds.
• Manage patients with arterial lines, EVDs, and lumbar drains; neuro post-op cases.
• Handle vasoactive infusions; maintain 1:3 patient ratio.
• Work 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; every other weekend required.
• May float to Neuro ICU; use Epic EMR for documentation.
• Provide direct nursing care for complex neurological and neurosurgical patients.
• Weekly orientation held every Monday; vaccinations required (COVID-19 booster and Flu).
• RTO requests must be submitted prior to consideration; first-time travelers may be considered.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring an active MA RN license and specialized neuro critical care skills.

Requirements

• Current certifications: BLS/CPR-AHA, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 3+ years of related neuro critical care experience required
• Required hands-on experience with EVDs, lumbar drains, and arterial lines
• Basic proficiency navigating web-based applications required

Responsibilities

• Work in a 36-bed Neuroscience unit in the Rosenberg building with 18 intermediate care beds and 18 general neuroscience beds
• Care for patients with arterial lines, EVDs, lumbar drains, post-op day zero neuro cases, and acute thrombectomies including TPA administration
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Some vasoactive infusion management required
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with every other weekend required
• May float to the Neuro ICU floor from the Neuro IMCU
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide direct nursing care for complex neurological and neurosurgical patients requiring intensive monitoring
• Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays
• Required vaccinations include COVID-19 (with booster) and Flu, with medical exemptions allowed
• No local candidates accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Previous Beth Israel Lahey Health employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must have a 6-month break before returning
• RTO requests must be submitted prior to consideration
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
