Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift Med Neuro ICU position in North Carolina. The role requires critical care expertise, PALS, and compact licensure, with 3x12-hour night coverage.

Responsibilities include floating to intermediate floors, caring for neurologically complex patients, and managing multisystem dysfunction and cardiac rhythms. Pre-employment screening and travel logistics provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• Minimum 2–3 years of critical care experience
• Additional med/surg experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory suctioning
• Experience managing continuous IV sedation and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and post neurosurgery care preferred
• Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and traumatic brain injury care preferred
• Experience with chest tube insertion/removal assistance preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Med Neuro ICU setting
• Night shift (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Floating to intermediate step-down/medical floors required
• Unit occasionally serves as peds overflow, though pediatric patients typically remain on the Peds unit
• Provide critical care nursing to a medically and neurologically complex ICU patient population
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Unit cannot accommodate more than 7 days of requested time off
• Candidates residing in Moore County are not eligible for travel assignments
• Former FirstHealth employees must have been separated from employment for at least one year to be considered
• Facility conducts its own pre-employment drug screening upon arrival in addition to standard credentialing requirements
