American Traveler, LLC. in Alexandria, VA is hiring an RN for a Neuro ICU role requiring 2 years in critical care. The position is on-site with a 16-bed unit and a 1:2 patient ratio.

Applicants must hold a VA or compact RN license, current BLS/ACLS, and have Epic EMR experience. Night shift 7 PM–7 AM, every other weekend, and no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience
• Must pass ECG exam on day 2 (pass/fail)
• Epic EMR experience required

Responsibilities

• 16-bed Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
• Treats stroke, ICH, SAH, SDH, brain tumors, increased ICP, and related neurological conditions
• Manages acute respiratory failure, sepsis, ARDS, COPD/asthma exacerbation, acute heart failure, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, and severe electrolyte abnormalities
• Titrates drips including norepinephrine, epinephrine, phenylephrine, and dopamine
• Two clinical techs support the unit for 16 patients
• Uses mechanical ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
• No dedicated tele/monitor techs; RNs read their own telemetry strips
• Night shift schedule from 7PM-7AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on‑call requirements
• Floating required to MSICU, PCCU, and for unit boarders
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide critical care nursing to a complex neurological and medical ICU patient population
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a lower pay rate
• Former permanent employees may return 12 months after their last shift worked

• Must pass an ECG exam on day 2 of assignment (pass/fail)
• Epic EMR experience required

• Also manages acute respiratory failure, sepsis, ARDS, COPD/asthma exacerbation, acute heart failure, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, and severe electrolyte abnormalities
• Titrates drips including norepinephrine, epinephrine, phenylephrine, and dopamine, with vasopressin typically set rate
• Two clinical techs support the unit for 16 patients
• Uses mechanical ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
• No dedicated tele/monitor techs; RNs read their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
• Night shift schedule from 7PM-7AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on‑call requirements
• Floating required to MSICU, PCCU, and for unit boarders
