American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in the Washington, DC area. Requires 2+ years of critical care, a DC RN license, and BLS/ACLS/NIHSS; CCRN preferred. Open to travel RNs with at least one prior travel assignment.

The role features Neuro ICU and SICU work, a 7 PM–7 AM schedule, 1:2 patient ratio, and no on-call requirements; frequent unit-floating to similar acuity. PACU/ICU experience and Relias EKG exam success recommended.

Qualifications

• DC RN license active (pending allowed with proof, must be in hand before start)
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required
• CCRN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (last 7 years)
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
• Conscious sedation, ICP monitoring, ventilator management experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU work settings
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00; some days, up to two weeks of nights within six weeks
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Floating to units of equal or lower acuity
• Ventilator management and ICU line care (EVD, ICP monitoring, CVVH, etc.)
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Provide care for neurologically complex patients (CVA/stroke, TBI, SCI, post-neurosurgical)

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and at least one prior travel assignment.

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required (pending status accepted with proof at time of consideration, must be in hand prior to start date)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Preferred certification: CCRN
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience within the last 7 years
• At least one previous travel assignment required
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Required skills: conscious sedation, ICP monitoring, and ventilator management
• Preferred skills: Level 1 trauma experience, pulmonary artery line management, IV starts, and phlebotomy
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU work settings
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00), with majority of shifts being days and up to two weeks of nights within a six-week schedule
• No on-call requirements, with rotating A/P, D/E, or D/N shifts unless specified as night shift only
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity, including other ICUs or IMC
• Uses specialized equipment including EVD, Raumedic Bolt, Arctic Sun, CVVH, Lytic catheter, Flo-tracker, and occasionally PA-catheter
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Provide critical care nursing to neurologically complex patients, including CVA/stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgical patients
• Manage EVDs, ICP monitoring, continuous IV sedation, and vasoactive drip titration
• Perform respiratory care including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Scrub color is ceil blue
• Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius to qualify for local candidate status at a different pay rate
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Holiday coverage required as needed
